Starting the Arctic Season

Another long travel day survived on the way north. Set out at 6am to fly out of Santiago over to Buenos Aires. Nice empty flight for the first leg. Then the usual run around Buenos Aires airport to get back on the plane for the second leg to Amsterdam. Plane was super full and sleep wasn’t easy as it was quite turbulent the whole way. About 18 hours later arrived in Amsterdam 30 minutes early due to a medical issue on board. Both luggage’s made it with so that’s always a huge relief. Had breakfast in the airport before attempting the trains. The trains are a little more complicated that I’m used to but managed to get my tickets and find my train whilst hauling all my gear without too much fuss. I had one change at a place called Breda where I got off to find all trains to my destination had been cancelled for the time being due to a collision. Locals were super helpful trying to find an alternative route for me. Two hours later the service was resumed and I had another hour and a half to go. Super tired by this time. I actually fell asleep standing up and woke up just as my knees buckled 😂. Scared the pants of my fellow passengers 😂. Anyway finally arrived at Vlissingen station, found my taxi, immigration into the port complete and loaded my gear onboard. Finally settled into my cabin ready for a shower and a nap. Training starts tomorrow 🤩 #travelling #travel #expeditionguidelife #guidelife #shiplife
