Day 6 of our journey to hike the Everest Base Camp hike. Today was quite a full day and I have so many pictures and videos! We started with a traditional breakfast at 8 before being picked up by the owner of our tour company for a meeting in his office. Here he gave us information about expectations and recommendations for a successful hike. He also set us up with some currency, gave us our duffel bags and gave us some merch to wear. We were given a shirt, buff and hat to wear on the trek. We then headed back to the hotel to wait for our SIM cards to arrive. Another guide came and set up the sims for us so we will hopefully have connection all the way to the EBC. We then had lunch on the rooftop terrace of our hotel overlooking the city. Mum tried the rack of lamb to compare to the lamb at home 😂. After that we attempted to walk the neighborhood a little, lots of interesting shops but we have no more weight allowance. The traffic was intense, mum had hold of the back of my coat at several moments. There’s no pavement and there doesn’t seem to be any rules about walking along the road. We grabbed a coffee in a cafe and headed back to the hotel for a bit. At 6 our guide picked us up to enjoy a dinner and show of traditional Nepalese dishes and dances. Our favourite part was the yak I’ll make a separate post about him and a separate one with all the videos. The food was great! My favourite was the Mo Mo which is like a chicken dumpling. The foods quite spicy but we managed to get through several courses. Neither of us are big spicy food eaters. Back in the hotel room we had a practice pack of our duffels. The bag limit is 15kg which is a bit tricky with the sleeping bag and hiking gear but we’ll make it work. Lastly we also went out and bought our altitude sickness medication. It’s prescription everywhere else in the world but here you just buy it on the street. Tomorrow is our last day in Katmandu and we have lots of tours booked so hoping to have a chance to get the big camera out. Very exciting! #nepal #katmandu #nepalisbeautiful #traveler #nepalesefood
